US-China Gray Swans Watchlist 2023 - Risk Assessment Tool

March 07, 2023 | Database

The Conference Board has developed a watch list framework and methodology to support China Center members monitor evolving geopolitical risks related to their China business; and specifically appraise so-called “gray swan” events that could potentially cause sharp escalations in US-China and/or EU-China tensions and significant disruptions to business. Understanding the likely Policy, Public Opinion and/or C-Suite/BoD responses to such events is critical for informing contingency planning, risk management, and crisis preparedness. For each Company, the impact of a gray swan event, should it occur, will likely vary. We have input our thinking on general impacts to stimulate thinking and discussion as a starting point for company-specific assessments. Our impact assessments are based on precedent, observation, and reasoned thinking; but they should be considered as reference only, and a starting point for more detailed, internal contingency planning discussions.
